Box 0409 was struck at 1231 hours alerting Companies 4, 5, 3 & Kent County Company 6 for a reported structure fire at 710 Brick Schoolhouse Road north of Centreville. Engine 52 & Tower Ladder 5 responded on the run with five volunteers (Engine 55 was comitted at the MFRI Training Center).  PM40 arrived to find a 60'x40' manure shed with smoke showing.  Engine 52 (second due) arrived first laying a supply line in with Captain Williams assuming Command.  The engine crew deployed the front bumper line and extinguished the fire, while Engine Tanker 4 arrived and secured the supply line.  The assignment was held to E52 and Company 4 units for mop-up with Command being transfered to Chief 4.  Company 5 personnel operated for only forty five minutes.

At 1948 hours Rescue Local 0581 was dispatched for the MVC on Route 301 at Price Station Road.  Engine 52, Engine 55, Special Unit 59 & Ambulance 5 responded on the run staffed with sixteen volunteers.  EMS 5-3 arrived via POV to find a two vehicle collision and after investigating no injuries.  The engine companies secured the vehicles and assisted MSP with clearing the highway.  Company 5 units were back in service within thirty minutes.  Assistant Chief Trossbach had Price Station Command.

The Department received another update and photos on the continued progress of the new Brush Unit.  The body has been installed on the chassis, pump and poly tank have been mounted, grill fabricated and suspension work completed.  General Brush Trucks is still awaiting delivery of the specialized tires and work will be completed on the remainder of the body this week.

This month both Company Level Drills focused on Tower Ladder Operations.  The first training session conducted by Assistant Chief Steve Hurlock on August 10th was directed at tricks of the trade in regards to Truck Company Operations, tool carries and apparatus placement as well as bucket time for the members in attendance.  The second training session conducted by Lieutenant Andy Collins this evening, was directed at ventilation operations from the bucket uitilizing an acquired structure.  Crews removed windows and conducted roof venting from the Tower Ladder before moving to the interior of the dwelling for wall breaching scenarios.  Both of these Company Level Drills will enhance our members confidence in performing these tasks on the fireground.

At 0353 hours Company 5 and Kent County Company 6 handled a set fire located at the Queen Anne's County Disposal Transfer Station in the 100 Block of Fey Road.  Units arrived to find two large trash containers well involved.  The fire was extinguished and the State Fire Marshal's Office was requested to the scene for investigation.  Crews operated just over an hour before returning to quarters.  FF Carson had Fey Road Command.

Today the Company got another update on the progress of our new brush unit and received the first photos of the build process.  The Company ordered the new F550 Diesel/General Brush Truck in late May with the expected delivery of late summer.  The unit is nearing completion with the majority of the painting and fabricating finished with some work remainiing on the upgrades to the chassis and suspension.  Once those items are completed next week, the body will be installed with the tank and fire pump to follow.  We will post further information and photos as we receive them.

Engine 52 & Engine 55 responded at 1107 hours on Rescue Box 0581, along with Company 4 and Queen Anne's ALS units for an MVC with rollover on northbound Route 301 north of the Welcome Center.  Units arrived to find a single vehicle that rolled multiple times off the roadway.  PM400 packaged one pediatric patient for transport to Chester River, while the engine crews secured the vehicle.  With no entrapment, Company 4 units were placed into service.  The six volunteers from Church Hill operated for thirty five minutes and Captain Williams had Route 301 Command.

Engine 55 staffed with six volunteers responded on Kent County Box 7003 for a working fire at 5961 Rock Hall Road.  E55 arrived to find 1st Alarm units from Kent County Companies 7, 6, & 5 with a working fire in a three story private dwelling with fire on both the second and third floors.  The crew from E55 opened up the second and third floors performing extensive overhaul.  The engine company returned to quarters after two hour and thirty minutes.

While leaving the MFRI Training Center after the Engine Company Operations Drill, our units came across a MVC involving a motorcycle in front of the truck stop at 610 Ruthsburg Road.  Communications dispatched Rescue Local 0405 for additional units and an ALS unit while Assistant Chief Trossbach established Command.  Our personnel started patient care and one of our engines proceeded to the Centreville Middle School to set up an LZ for the MSP Helicopter.  The one patient was flown to Shock Trauma and the two occupants of the other vehicle refused treatment.  Company 5 cleared within thirty minutes.
