OPERATIONS

The Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company is comprised of one fire station ( Station 5 )located in Queen Anne's County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It is one of nine fire stations in the county that are all staffed solely by volunteers and supported by Countycareer paramedics who provided service 24/7.

Station 5 is located in northern Queen Anne's County just west of the Route 301 corridor. Our response area is the second largest in the county with approximately sixty four squaremiles, that includes light commercial, residential and rural areas. The area is bordered on the north end by Kent County, Maryland who we provide mutual aid to on a regular basis. The area to the west is bordered by the Chester River, where we protect miles of shoreline. Our response area also includes eight miles of U.S. Route 301 which is a heavily traveled north-south corridor of commuter traffic as well as hazardous materials.

Company 5 operates one class A pumper, one class A rescue pumper, one tanker, one brush unit, one BLS ambulance and an incident command unit. Our department is staffedby an all volunteer force supported by an all volunteer auxiliary.

The volunteers of Church Hill are made up of over fifty people from the town and surrounding communities ranging in age from sixteen to the sixties. The department isexperienced in public safety with many members who have careers in the fire service, law enforcement and public safety dispatching. This mix of personnel, along with our electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. give our company needed experience to meet today's fire service challenges.
