Company 5 was alerted at 15:00 for a dwelling fire with entrapment at 868 Washington Avenue in Chestertown. Engine 55, Tower Ladder 5 and Engine 52 responded with 15 members. One victim in cardiac arrest was removed by units on scene prior to our arrival.
Engine 55 split crews, with half reporting to the basement to assist with fire attack and the other half performing a secondary search on the first floor. 55’s search crew located and removed a second victim, who was turned over to EMS.
The Tower Ladder crew assisted with duties on the exterior, while the Squad crew also reported to the basement. The structure was ventilated and the scene was secured for the State Fire Marshal’s office for an investigation. Unfortunately both victims succumbed to their injuries.
