Fire Prevention At Church Hill Elementary School
The Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department conducts fire prevention activities every October for students at Church Hill Elementary School. These activities coincide with National Fire Prevention Week and aim to educate young children on what to do in an emergency. On Friday morning, members staffed the Engine, Tower Ladder and Brush unit and reported for class. We were accompanied by the crew from Paramedic 500 and two 911 telecommunicators from the Department of Emergency Services. Children ranging from kindergarten to grade 5 were taught about calling 911 in an emergency, what to do in a fire and other basic life safety principles. At the conclusion, each class got to tour the apparatus and ask questions.
