Squad 5 (Formerly know as Engine 52) has seating for six personnel, is powered by a 425hp Detroit Diesel 8V92TA engine coupled with an Allison automatic transmission. The engine has a Waterous 1,250 g.p.m. single stage pump with a 750 gallon poly tank and 50 gallon foam cell. There is one pre-connected 1 ¾” front bumper line at 150′, two 1 ¾’ 200′ crosslays, one 1 ¾” 150′ rear attack line and one 2 ½” 200′ rear attack line. The engine carries 1,500 of 4″ LDH and assorted appliances. A Honda gasoline powered 5,000 watt generator supplies power to the unit.
Squad 5 key equipment features include: six (6) SCBA w/ spare cylinders, Scott Thermal Imaging Camera, positive pressure fan, chain saw, K-12 saw, hand tools, RIT bag, Hurst JL32B spreaders, Hurst X-Tractor cutter, Hurst X-Tractor-S cutter, Hurst 15″, 30″ and 60″ hydraulic rams w/ extension kit, Rescue 42 vehicle stabilization system, Rabbit Tool/Brake Cutter, DeWalt cordless drill and saw, Milwaukee sawzall, air chisel, Hurst 30 ton high pressure lifting bag system, other various rescue tools/equipment, foam appliances and hazardous materials support equipment. Squad 5 is first due on all rescue related responses.
