Two Crashes At Price Station
Engine 55 & Chief 5 were responding to a public assist call in Bridgetown Estates when they were re-routed to an MVC at Route 301 Southbound and Price Station Road. Both units had just crossed the intersection minutes prior. QAC Paramedic 500 & Goodwill FD Paramedic 4 also responded on the run. Engine 55 arrived to find a two vehicle collision at the southbound intersection. Upon further assessment, it was determined there were seven patients, five of which were pediatrics. Due to the number of patients, a mass casualty incident was declared with the Maryland Joint Operations Center. Doing so can open up additional resources at the state level if needed as well as preparing hospitals for a potential influx of patients. Aviation was requested for transport of one adult and three pediatrics to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center. Troopers 6 and 1 landed at the scene. Three additional patients were transported by ground to a local facility.
Units were in quarters for about 2 hours when a second MVC was dispatched for the same intersection. On this incident, members evaluated all occupants involved and all refused any EMS services. Chief Williams had command of both incidents.
